II. POLICY. It is the policy of this agency that personnel will be . trained to recognize persons with I/DD; treat people with I/ DD with dignity and respect; utilize de-escalation protocols when appropriate; and seek alternatives to physical custody whenever possible.
One persistent driver is a lack of access to routine and lifesaving care because of the limited number of qualified health care providers with training in ID/DD.
